Write to your Members of Congress to ask that they cosponsor the Medicare Ambulance Access Preservation Act (S. 1066, H.R. 2443). This legislation would implement a permanent 6% increase to base and mileage rates under the Medicare ambulance fee schedule and permanently extend the bonus payment of 22.6% for transports originating in super rural areas. The increases are supported by the findings of the May 2007 report by the Government Accountability Office on the costs of providing ambulance services.
