I am one of more than 4 million Americans who is taking part in the three-day Pickens Plan Virtual March on Washington.

I am joining my family, friends, neighbors and co-workers in asking you to help reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil.  Over the past 12 months, in spite of the recession, we continue to import about two-thirds of the oil we are using.

Recent reports about Russia cutting off natural gas supplies to Europe as well as reports that Venezuela (one of our major oil suppliers) is making closer alliances with Russia and Iran are huge red flags waving in our nation's face.

The Pickens Plan calls for building out our wind and solar electric production capacity; building a 21st century transmission grid to move that power to population centers; making our nation's largest energy culprits -- homes and commercial buildings -- more energy efficient through proper insulation; and providing incentives for truckers to replace their 18-wheelers running on imported diesel to vehicles which will run on domestic natural gas - of which we have a huge supply.
