Take Action Lift Your Voice in Support of Immigration Reform
Tell Congress to Support H.R. 6 - American Dream and Promise Act of 2019!

Since 2016, the current administration has directed numerous threats towards policies that are crucial to the wellbeing of many immigrant and undocumented people living in the United States. Regrettably, the administration has been able to follow through with many of these threats, taking actions that have negatively impacted hundreds of thousands of lives. Many communities and people of faith have refused to condone immigration policies that violently tear apart families and destroy lives.

The Bible calls the Church to care for immigrant people stating, “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them […] Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners (Leviticus 19:33-4, NRSV). In 2012, the 220th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church P.C.U.S.A. resolved to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform at the federal level. The General Assembly envisioned a more compassionate and just immigration process that prioritized family unity, provided access to legal assistance and social services, and established safe, realistic paths for future migration. Yet, today we have witnessed many recent immigration policies that have failed to live up to this vision and have left many immigrant people uncertain of what their future holds. Now is the time to act.

To protect immigrant people from the current administration’s inhumane policies, Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard and 202 cosponsors introduced the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (H.R. 6) on 12 March 2019. If passed, this act would initiate progress towards positive immigration reform by providing protection and security for 2.7 million immigrant persons living across the United States in fear of deportation, including 700,000 DACA recipients, 1.6 million eligible Dreamers, 300,000 TPS holders and 3,600 people with Deferred Enforced Departure (DED). Additionally, the Act will protect the rights of future immigrant people to apply for permanent resident status.

Urgent action is needed to implore Congress to quickly pass the American Dream and Promise Act in order to protect the lives of immigrant people!

Please contact your representative today to encourage them to support the passage of H.R. 6 - the American Dream and Promise Act
