Thanks in large part to the emails you sent to Capitol Hill, the House-Senate conferees on the Wall Street Reform bill decided NOT to include sweeping new FTC powers in the final bill.
Yes, in any legislative victory involving a broad coalition, a number of people can claim some credit, but there is no doubt in my mind that your voice was heard. Grassroots are critically important and, by a wide margin, we sent the largest number of emails of any group in the coalition. Grassroots, backed up by strong lobbying by the NPA and other coalition members, carried the day.
There will be other battles, and I hope we can count on you to answer the call again. But for now, congratulations on a great win and thank you.
