Update, Thursday 5/26/11: The education budget, HB 4325 (which combines school aid and higher ed), was passed by the state House by a 59-50 vote with Rep. Patrick Somerville (R-New Buffalo), Rep. Holly Hughes (R-White River Township), Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth Township) and Rep. Paul Muxlow (R-Brown City) joining Democrats in opposition. It was then quickly passed by the Senate, by the same vote margin as the Senate had passed its version of the school aid budget (SB 183). The measure now goes to the Governor for his signature.
