S. 3044; Consumer-First Energy Act of 2008; With this vote, the  Senate failed to pass a bill that would redirect a portion of windfall profits  of oil and gas companies into a fund designed to reduce American dependence on  foreign oil and offset the effects of climate change.  S. 3044 would also  exempt profits derived from clean renewable energy to incentivize investment  in industries such as wind and solar power. (YES is the pro-environment vote)
