  • WaterSense specifications for new homes: Comment deadline is July 7

    Turfgrass industry concerned about lack of science in outdoor criteria

    In May, the U.S. EPA released for comment a second round draft of the specifications for water-efficient single-family new homes. These specifications establish the criteria for water-efficient new homes under EPA's WaterSense program. When final, both indoor and outdoor criteria must be met in order for newly constructed single-family homes and town homes, three stories or less in size, to bear the WaterSense label.

  • GCSAA Continues Fight Against Landmark Court Decision on Pesticide Use

    GCSAA has taken a substantial stand against a recent federal court ruling that would fundamentally change the way pesticides are regulated in the U.S. and will determine when superintendents and other pesticide applicators are required to obtain National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits prior to pesticide applications. GCSAA's most recent effort has been to partner with 22 major agriculture and non-agriculture organizations in the filing of an amicus "friend of the court" brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in support of a rehearing of the National Cotton Council vs. U.S. EPA case.
