In the midst of the worst humanitarian crisis of our time, September is a critical month as President Obama will be setting goals for how many refugees will be admitted to the U.S. in the coming year. As we also approach two historic summits on refugees during this month hosted by the United Nations and President Obama, we need the U.S. to lead by example. FCNL is urging President Obama to act more in line with the magnitude of the refugee crisis and increase the number of refugees resettled in the U.S. by twofold.
However, Congress is expected to consider legislation that would severely limit funding to protect refugees in the United States and overseas. This flat-line funding will limit the ability to adequately protect and resettle refugees in the United States.
