	Help Gain Senate Support for Green Legislation

A key Senate committee, in the week of November 2, approved legislation focused on reducing greenhouse gas pollution and create green jobs. Although the legislation is far from perfect, we at FCNL particularly support provisions in the legislation that would maintain the Environmental Protection Agency's authority to regulate carbon dioxide emissions at existing coal fired electric utility plants.

You can help protect this provision by urging your senators to cosign a letter to the Seante leadership being organized by Senator Robert Menendez (NJ).

I was pleased to see that the Environment and Public Works Senate Committee approved legislation last week focused on reducing greenhouse gas pollution and creating the type of green jobs that will help both the environment and the economy.

A particularly good aspect of this legislation is the protection of Clean Air Act provisions that would maintain the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to set minimum modern standards for carbon dioxide emissions at coal-fired power plants.

Please support keeping Clean Air Act protections in this or any climate legislation by cosigning a letter to the Senate leadership being organized by Senator Robert Menendez (NJ).

Climate change is an issue that is not confined to national borders and it is important for the United States to do its part in taking steps towards achieving a cleaner healthier environment for all.
