Women of all ethnicities and all locations deal with domestic and sexual abuse, but none more than Native Americans, who inhabit communities in the midst of a public safety crisis.
Congress is beginning to realize their role in this crisis on tribal lands. The Tribal Law and Order Act specifically addresses the domestic violence and sexual abuse epidemic in Indian Country by requiring federal and tribal communication regarding both the victim and perpetrator and providing family violence training to enforcement officers.
