    Bill includes funding for federal reentry and elderly prisoner programs

    U.S. Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) introduced S. 1231, the Second Chance Reauthorization Act to reauthorize funding for important reentry programs, expand good time, create an earned time program; and expand the Elderly and Family Reunification for Certain Nonviolent Offenders Pilot Program.     The U.S. Senate voted 57-43 in favor of including the National Criminal Justice Commission Act (NCJCA) as part of the FY 2012 spending bill. That is three votes short of the 60 votes we needed. Please let your U.S. senator know how you feel about their vote on this amendment.
