Help Support Veterans Experiencing Homelessness

Urge Congress to fund the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program to help homeless veterans attain the skills they need to gain meaningful employment.

Contact your Members of Congress in support of employment services for homeless and at-risk veterans.

The Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) is the only federally funded national program that helps homeless and at-risk veterans develop the skills and training they need to find and maintain employment. HVRP, which serves about 17,000 veterans annually, has been one of the tools our country has used to help reduce veteran homelessness by nearly 50 percent since 2010.

Tell your Members of Congress to support full funding for the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program for FY 2019.

I am writing to ask that you aid at-risk veterans seeking employment by supporting the bipartisan Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP). Your support for HVRP will help to ensure homeless and other at-risk veterans have access to the employment services they need to find jobs.

Congress created HVRP at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to help address the employment and training needs of veterans who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Through the program, community-based organizations provide and coordinate skills training, job placement and support services to help veterans return to the labor force and secure stable housing. HVRP, which serves about 16,000 veterans annually, has been one of the tools our country has used to help reduce veteran homelessness by nearly 50 percent since 2010. However, the remaining veterans, who include the chronically homelessness, will require more time and greater access to HVRP's intensive, veteran-centered case management approach.

Your support for HVRP will help to ensure the program is adequately funded in FY 2019.

Thank you for your consideration.

I am writing to ask that you fund the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) for no less than $50,000,000 in FY 2019.

HVRP is the only federal program that targets employment and training for homeless veterans. Through HVRP, homeless veterans and veterans at-risk of homelessness receive job training, counseling, and other employment services and community supports to help them find stable housing and a meaningful job. HVRP, which serves about 17,000 veterans annually, has been one of the tools our country has used to help reduce veteran homelessness by nearly 50 percent since 2010. However, the remaining veterans, who include the chronically homelessness, will require more time and greater access to HVRP's intensive, veteran-centered case management approach.

I respectfully ask that you fund the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program for no less than $50,000,000, the level proposed in past HVRP reauthorizations.

Thank you for considering my views.
