Dear President Bush,
On March 11, the U.S. Senate passed the Second Chance Act, a bill that will fund re-entry programs benefitting men and women released from federal, state and local institutions into society. As a member of the Center for Moral Clarity, a national Christian grassroots organization, I supported the bill in the interest of social justice, and I urge you to sign it into law.
The Second Chance Act will fund job-training and addiction recovery programs, as well as other types of training that will help released prisoners make a successful transition to freedom. Such programs are proven to reduce the rate at which prisoners commit new crimes and are re-incarcerated. The Second Chance Act therefore will keep our communities safer, and it is worthy of your support.
Thank you for considering my opinion.
