I am writing concerning Senate Bill 305, which proponents are calling the Equal Housing and Employment Act. It would allow homosexual men, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered persons to claim protection under Ohio law from alleged discrimination on the job and in securing housing.
I believe the bill would trivialize Ohio’s anti-discrimination laws by equating sexual behavior with a person’s race, age, religion, disability or national origin, which are fully deserving of legal protection. The General Assembly has much more pressing priorities than this, and I urge you to oppose this cynical attempt to create a new protected class of Ohioans.
As a member of the Center for Moral Clarity, an Ohio-based Christian grassroots organization, I ask you not to support this ill-advised bill. Thank you for considering my opinion.
