I am writing to express my frustration with leaders of the Indiana House regarding the issue of the definition of marriage. The intransigence of Speaker Bauer and Rep. Pelath are preventing this decision from being made where it ought to be made – by the people of this great state.
As a member of the Center for Moral Clarity, a non-partisan Christian grassroots organization, I am concerned that the existing statutes defining marriage could easily be overturned in a ruling by an activist judge. A constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman is the only way to assure that God’s design for the family is preserved.
The people deserve to make this decision. I encourage you to use all the influence at your disposal to permit the House to vote on this important issue. Thank you for considering my opinion.
