It's profoundly disappointing to read of your advocacy of a proposed ballot issue which would legalize human embryonic stem-cell research in Michigan. As a member of the Center for Moral Clarity, I recognize that embryos are living beings deserving of the state's protection, not as potential spare parts for scientific experiments.
Research on human embryos destroys nascent human life, and therefore is morally impermissible. Recent scientific advances also suggest that it is not necessary to destroy embryos to gain the benefits of stem-cell research scientists are seeking. Current state policy on this issue is both ethically and fiscally correct. Michigan should not go backward where cutting-edge science is concerned. I would respectfully ask you to abandon your advocacy of this divisive and unnecessary proposal.
Thank you for considering my opinion.
