Dear Gov. Napolitano,
I am a member of the Center for Moral Clarity and I believe that, if educated properly, the teenagers of our state are capable of choosing to abstain from sexual relations until marriage. I hope you share my confidence in their moral potential.
I’m asking that you reconsider your decision to decline “abstinence-only education” funding from the federal government. Let us be clear: abstinence until monogamous marriage is the only certain way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancies.
Departing from this message places our young people at risk. We have a responsibility to teach this message to our young people, and it is irresponsible not to take advantage of the funding opportunity the federal government is presenting us.
Thank you for considering my opinion.
