The Student Attendance Success Act of 2009 (S.1708), introduced in the Senate by Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Kay Hagan (D-NC), is the first federal legislation to specifically reference the "Whole Child." ASCD encouraged the whole child approach called for in the bill to help combat truancy, and will continue to work with members of the Senate and House to build support for its passage.
