Action Alert
Take Action Maine Bill Weakens Safety Inspection Program

As you may know, Maine House Bill (HB) 167, introduced by State Rep. Richard Cebra, R-68, would require all state-registered vehicles to undergo a biannual safety inspection. Maine currently requires an annual safety inspection.

Regular safety inspections by a qualified technician can identify and repair most safety issues that arise from normal wear and tear on the vehicle. This bill does not take into consideration the vital importance of preventative maintenance and would weaken Maine’s current vehicle safety program.

Please go to TakingTheHill.com for more information and send a letter to your legislators opposing HB 167.

As a professional, independent automotive repairer in the state of Maine, and your constituent, I ask you to oppose Maine House Bill 167, introduced by State Rep. Richard Cebra, R-68.

House Bill 167 would require all state-registered vehicles to undergo a biannual safety inspection. Maine currently requires an annual safety inspection.

Regular safety inspections by a qualified technician can identify and repair most safety issues that arise from normal wear and tear on the vehicle. If enacted, this bill will weaken a program specifically designed to protect the motoring public.

Please oppose House Bill 167.

Thank You
