Contact Congress About the Diversity Pipeline

Please take a minute to email your elected representatives and let them know that you care about diversity pipeline programs. The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) is in serious jeopardy of being eliminated in the coming weeks.

HCOP recruits disadvantaged and underrepresented students to the health professions, which improves workforce distribution in rural and other underserved communities, cultural competency of providers, and ultimately the quality of patient care for all Americans.

Please help protect FY 2017 funding for the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) by contacting congressional appropriators and leadership in support of these critical pipeline initiatives across the country.

HCOP recruits disadvantaged and underrepresented students to the health professions, which improves workforce distribution in rural and other underserved communities, cultural competency of providers, and ultimately the quality of patient care for all Americans. HCOP uniquely focuses on the next generation of health professionals in the K-12 pipeline, before it is too late to reach them.

HCOP, authorized under Title VII of the Public Health Service Act, is in jeopardy of being eliminated in the final FY 2017 Labor-HHS-Education appropriations package. Please ask your colleagues to at least maintain funding at the current FY 2016 level for FY 2017 ($14.2 million).
